VENETO AND FRIULI tour ( 4 days and 3 Nights )
1ST DAY) MILAN - VERONA - PADUA
Departure at 8.30 am, Hotel Jolly Machiavelli, Milan to achieve Verona. Visit of the city universally known for the Arena and the love story between Romeo and Juliet. Our visit starts in Castelvecchio, the old castle over the Adige River, belonged to the family Della Scala with a short walk on the bridge, from which you can admire all the town; Piazza Brà that houses the Roman amphitheatre, Piazza dei Signori, with the City Hall, the Palace of the Tribunali, Juliet house with the famous balcony. Free time for lunch. Then, departure to Padua. This is an important city in economics ambit in a extremely rich and developed area and gives hospitality to one of the oldest Italian university. Padua is probably known in all the world because of the Portuguese Fernando Martim, well known as the venerated Saint Anthony of Padua. The Basilica in the main square, first half of the 1200, is dedicated to the man that spent most of his life in this town. The visit will start there, the core of the city with not only the church but also the charming and amazing Prato della Valle, one of the largest European square which houses an island of elliptical size, called Memmia. In the city centre, visit of the Cathedral, that still remains the main church of Padua, Caffé Pedrocchi, symbol of the XIX century Padua and Piazza dei Signori. Overnight in the hotel.
2ND DAY) PADUA - BRENTA TOUR
Breakfast. Boarding on the boat at 8.30 am in the old river ferry of the city. Navigation on the old route of the merchanights. Passage in front of Villa Giovanelli, symbol of the XVII century Veneto architecture. Arrival in Stra, small town that houses Villa Pisani, a modern art museum. Visit. Then, route to achieve Dolo with visit of the ancient mills, XVI century. Free lunch. Cross of the Lock of Dolo, where the water suddenly reduces its capacity. Trip around the villages, the villas, the revolving bridges as far as Mira. Stop to visit Villa Widmann, last XVIII century. Next, Villa Foscari with optional visit. End of the tour in Malcontenta. Meet with the minibus to come back to Padua. Overnight in the hotel.
3RD DAY) PADUA - TRIESTE - PADUA
Breakfast. Departure to Trieste. Multi-ethnic town, it belonged to the Austrian-Hungarian Empire until the end of the first World War. Presently, it offers an evident track of those population, but also a clear sign of the proximity with Slovenia and Croatia, especially by the linguistic and architectonic poinights of view. Visit of the most important places of the town: the Castle Miramare, Piazza Italia, that shows itself on the wonderful Adriatic Sea; the sign of the Roman Age: the Amphitheatre; the so-called Red Palace, the City Hall, the Victory Lighthouse. Free lunch and time to visit the streets of the old town centre. Then, back to Padua. Overnight in the hotel.
4TH DAY) PADUA - VICENZA - VALPOLICELLA - MILAN
Breakfast. In the morning, time dedicated to visit and enjoy the city of Vicenza, internationally known as the town of Andrea Palladio, a master architect, who was the creator of some of the best masterpieces included in our trip: the Basilica, in the main square, Piazza dei Signori, Palace Chericati and Villa Capra, located in the neighbourhood and maybe the most important work of this artist. Walk in the old town, through Corso Palladio and then departure to the so called Valpolicella district. This area includes many villages and owes its fame to the production of wine, the manufacturing of marvel and the charming of its villas. Stop to visit a typical wine cellar tasting the best wines, as for example Valpolicella and Amarone. Crossing Negrar, modern village in a continuous state of development, arrival to Fumane for the free lunch. This small town, of Roman origin, has only 4000 inhabitanights but shows a unique architectonic sight, including five churches and four villas. After lunch, departure to Milan, coming down on the West side of the Valley, through Sant'Ambrogio, the best place for food and wine lovers. Arrival in Milan. End of our services.
